King Rafael & Queen Venus

The 122nd Championships came to the most magnificent of conclusions in near-darkness on Centre Court as Spain's Rafael Nadal brought the five-time champion Roger Federer crashing to earth in the longest, and quite possibly the finest, men's final in the history of The All England Club.

and 2008 Ladies' Singles champions Venus Williams.

King Rafa
Wimbledon has a new king. Rafael Nadal dethroned Roger Federer after a five-year reign by winning the longest-ever Wimbledon men's final. The consistently heartstopping 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-7 (8-10), 9-7 classic began at 2.35pm and thanks to a couple of breaks for rain (surely necessary for the spectators to catch their breath), it ended at 9.15pm with the 22-year-old from Mallorca dropping to the ground with his arms outstretched in celebration.

Destiny awaits!

Queen Venus
Venus Williams claimed her fifth Wimbledon singles crown after ending her losing run against sister Serena in Grand Slam finals to win 7-5, 6-4 in a riveting match which wonderfully lived up to the occasion.

Britain's pride
British tennis's shining new star Laura Robson became the first home player since Annabel Croft in 1984 to win the girls' singles title with a nerveless three-set victory against third seed Noppawan Lertcheewakarn of Thailand - and then served notice that she's after Venus Williams' crown as the queen of Wimbledon.
